MAUREEN (LANE)
Age 89, of Bethel Park, died November 6, 2017. Beloved wife of 63 years to the late Lloyd Austin; dear mother of John, Mary Ann (Dick Davis), and Lloyd (Paula); devoted grandmother of Laura (Salvatore Desiano), Richard (Stephanie), Benjamin, Matthew (Emily), Jade (Peter Mersing), Kimberly (Scott Shoemaker) and Nate; and loving great-grandmother to Matthew, Austin, Michelangelo, Cassidy, and Hunter. The only child of Mark and Mary Lane, Maureen developed a lifelong love of music while traveling the mid-Atlantic region with her father, a big band musician. Maureen grew up the in South Hills and graduated from South Hills High School in 1947, and she and Lloyd married that same year. A founding and active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park, she also worked as Youth Director for many years at Brentwood Presbyterian Church. She also dutifully served on the Pennsylvania Grand Jury in Harrisburg for two years. Maureen was a lively part of her community, a renowned hostess and cook, and creative home decorator. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Friends and relatives will be received at JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15227, Wednesday, November 8, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at Christ United Methodist on Friday at 11 a.m. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
