On Monday, January 4, 2016, James A. Sweeney, age 84, of Avalon, formerly of Emsworth. Son of the late Harry and Loretta Sweeney; beloved husband of 63 years of Bruna Sweeney; loving father of Timothy J. Sweeney, Robert R. Sweeney and the late Richard R. Sweeney; loving grandfather of Tim, Jr., Sammi, Alex and Zach; great-grandfather of Zyler. Jim was retired from AT&T, was a US Army veteran PFC of the Korean War and was a SFC in the 28th Signal Division of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Avalon Post 116, the VFW and the Knights of Columbus #1400 in Bellevue. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced. Burial at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private. Arrangements by LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., Bellevue.
