Beverly Mae Vernetti
Beverly Mae Vernetti (nee Prihar) passed away from natural causes on January 6, 2020 in Corvallis, Oregon. Beverly was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on September 14, 1928, the daughter of George and Elsie Prihar. She grew up on a small family farm in Portland, Oregon.
Beverly at an early age demonstrated an exceptional skill as a seamstress, sewing all her own clothes as well as for others throughout middle school and high school. She graduated from Gresham High School in 1946. Following graduation Beverly worked in a designer shop in Los Angeles where she was one of two young women chosen to attend the Singer Institute of Fashion and Design in Chicago, Illinois. Unfortunately due to illness she had to return to Portland to recuperate. During this time she met her future husband Jack Vernetti.
They married in May of 1950. Jack and Beverly had four children they raised in Portland. She continued sewing and crafting as a hobby, as well as working at Montgomery Wards for 13 years retiring in 1982 when Wards closed their Portland store. Following Jack's death in 2002, Beverly relocated to Rye Brook, NY and lived with her daughter and her 2 grandsons. In July of 2019 Beverly returned to live in Corvallis, Oregon.
She is survived by her 4 children; Jack, Lawrence, Elaine and Julie and 4 grandchildren; Nicholas, Michael, Kaylee and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack of 52 years and her brother Norman and sister Roberta.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday January 10, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Mt. Scott Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon. Private interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery Portland, Oregon with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a no kill animal shelter of your choice.
