Donna McBride Obituary

Donna was born 1/20/44 at Keystone Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to parents Donald and Grace Brown. They knew she was trouble the minute they laid eyes on her! Nonetheless, they loved her and raised her, along with her two brothers, Ken (Butch) and Stu Brown. She was close to her brothers and valued that closeness throughout her life. She attended East Pennsboro High School and obtained her GED in 1965. While at East Penn, she was the panther mascot for 1 year, but most importantly, she met and married another troublemaker: Edgar (Moe) McBride. They raised a family of four little troublemakers in Summerdale, PA and also helped raise the next generation in Enola, PA "on the hill". She continued her troublemaking ways working at the News Center in Summerdale Plaza for ~ 10 year with her best friend, Carole Heikel. Sure, they worked the cash register, filled shelves with merchandise, etc, but their main purpose at work was to see how close to a nervous breakdown they could push their manager, Ray Wevodau, to, but without losing him as a manager, who they both enjoyed working for. The things people will remember most about Donna is she was always there if you needed to talk or complain, or even just wanted to visit. She didn't have a lovey-dovey type of warmth, more a foul-mouthed, sarcastic warmth, but warmth nonetheless. It wasn't just friends and family that would talk and open up to her, but it was the person she was sitting next to on the plane, or stumbled onto out shopping or at the American Legion. Her house was always a hub for family and a favored destination for many. There was laughter, sass, sarcasm, and curse words freely flying around. Oftentimes, accompanied by coffee or beer, and dice and board games. People would not only come back for more, but would remember those times fondly. Some other collective memories will be of Buster, the Jack Russell terrorist, and how special her house was at Christmas. Also, bingo at the American Legion and other evenings out at the Sportsman. People remember not only spending time with her at her house, but it was also memorable on a short shopping trip, or to Rehoboth, Tennessee, Alaska, Sweden, Ireland, and Europe. Her husband, Moe McBride, is waiting in heaven to greet her. She is survived by her two brothers: Ken and his wife, Bonnie Brown, and Stu and his wife, Joan Brown. She is also survived by her four children: Allan and his partner, George Emverzo; Cheryl and her husband, Harold; Darryl; and Keith and his wife Tina. She has 8 grandchildren and 2 nephews, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild on the way. She is now someone's else's problem to deal with and try to keep out of trouble. They will laugh the entire time while trying to do so.

In loving memory of a wonderful lady who was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. I will never forget all the times our families spent together growing up. As an adult, I got to know and love her more. One thing I will remember is all the shenanigans your mom and my mom pulled. She and my mom were like sisters and spent a lot of time together for nearly 65 years. RIP Donna. You will always be greatly missed and loved.

I am so sorry for your loss... Though I have never met your mother, I know she will be greatly missed. I ran across her obituary by accident, and hope that she may get to meet my late mother in Heaven..They would get along very well... Thank-you.. my mother had the same witt & sassiness..
