Edward "Eddie" Horne Sr, age 81, of Fort Walton Beach, died peacefully on July 27, 2020 at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on April 11, 1939 in Ponce de Leon Florida to Charlie Eddice Horne and Velma Lou Horne. He attended Vernon High school and later started working at Borden's Dairy out in Texas. He worked for Borden's for over 30 years working his way to Branch Supervisor and then transferred to Butler Foods of Pensacola where he was the Branch Manager for over 10 years. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Juanita Ruth Horne; his brother Andrew Horne; his daughter Brenda Lou Sands (spouse Charles Jeffery Sands); his son Edward Horne Jr (spouse Judith Anne Horne); his 2 grandchildren, William Grant Curtis III (spouse Desiree Curtis), Stephine Marie Berry; 4 great grandchildren, Julius Shane Sosa, Zayn Edward Berry, Aurora "Lola" Hermelina Curtis, Isabella Rosa Curtis.
Eddie enjoyed Square Dancing where he and Juanita were members of the Flying Squares for many years. He also tried to spend as much time at Mirror Lake in Crestview fishing and camping in the travel trailer. Once he reached retirement age, Eddie started cutting yards for fun and working on lawn equipment as a hobby which later became a way of life for him. His normal routine in his golden years was spending time at the coffee shop with friends, eating at Golden Corral and driving around the neighborhood in his Jazzy chair talking to everyone that was out and about.
Emerald Coast will hold a viewing on Friday the 31st of July 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with a short grave side service at Beal Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to any organization that you wish to donate.
