Fred Foster
Nashville - Fred Luther Foster passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Nashville, Tennessee on February 20, 2019 following a short illness. Foster was born July 26, 1931, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Clara (Weast) Foster, and siblings Ann, Glen, Estelle, Charles, Ray, Pauline, and Ethel Lou. He is survived by his son Vance Foster, daughters Micki (Greg) Koenig, Leah (Dillon) Alderman, Brit (Judd) Rothstein, and Kristen Foster, and grandchildren Rachel DiGregorio, Rhys and Tess Rothstein and Penelope Kirschner. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Foster formed Combine Music Publishing and Monument Records. He was inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame; he received The Leadership Music Dale Franklin Award and The Grammy Trustees Award.
Fred was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Nashville, Masonic Lodge No. 359 of Hendersonville, TN, A.F.T.R.A., B.M.I., NARAS, and Nashville Musicians Association Local 257 A.F. of M.
Visitation with the family Friday, March 22nd 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road Nashville, TN 37216. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 23rd at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN, 37220. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude's Children Hospital for Children, Alive Hospice or charity of your choice. My sincerest condolences to the Foster Family. Fred gave me a job when I was young and struggling . For that I'll be eternally grateful. He was a pioneer and a gentleman.

Fred Foster and Rick Blackburn moved me and my family from California to Nashville in 1975, as Operations Manager for Monument Records.
That move changed my Family forever. I will always be appreciative of that.
