Such a tragic and senseless act. Your sorrow is shared by many. Use the comfort in God's word the bible to help you over this one year anniversary emotional trial. Ask Him for help and He will give it to you. (Php.4:6 & 7)

We may have not known each other very well while attending LHS but I just wanted to say thanks for doing such a heroic act when many would run away from the danger. You are an inspiration to the good of mankind.

My children knew Jessie as we are in Thornton too. They went to Horizon and Thornton high. I lost my son nine years ago to a hit and run drunk driver. He was 23. His name was Justin but everyone called him Shadow. My daughter is Adina Rish. I knew Jesse when I saw the picture of him. I am so sorry for your loss, if I can do anything at all please let me know. As a family friend to the Childress family in Redding, Ca. my heart and soul goes out to all of you, I never met Jessi but i know his uncle Aaron very well and if he is anything like him I know that he is a wonderful man... especially after reading all the comments that were written on this site, and the heroism that he displayed on saving a fellow officer... In my book Jessi you are and will always be a true american hero.... I look forward to the day that we can meet in Heaven, and in God's words it shall be only in a blink of an eye.... God bless the whole family.... much love and hugs...

Hey Jesse,

I didn't even know that was your first name until this tragedy. I always knew you as Evan. Good to read through these rememberances and learn new stuff about you. I always wondered why you shaved off your awesome beard! I'll miss you out on the football field. It just won't be the same not seeing you out there.

RIP Evan

I am proud to have been one of Jesse's high school English teachers at Littlerock High School. My remembrances of him are all positive--he was a kind, sweet, quiet young man with a magnetic smile. He died as he lived, doing what was right. My condolences go to his heartbroken family and friends. I am proud to have known him. God bless his parents who have to carry this unbearable burden that his untimely demise has brought to them.

I was there the day Jesse came in to interview for the job at the 310th. I will never forget that long beard he had and thinking about how he was going to have to shave it off. I got to be the one to issue him his first set of Air Force ABUs. Although I only worked with him for a short time, his memory will be with me always. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and to all those whose lives he touched.

I worked with Jesse at Schriever, he was on orders to help get all the computers up in the new 310 SW bldg. I'm a recruiter who works there and always asked he to fix my problems, he always did, he was a hard worker! While he was fixing my stuff I would always talk to him about how things were going on with him, we talked about his past in the Army, because I used to be Army too, and what was going on in his future. I know he was taking a break from school and was looking at all kinds of things for later on after he got off his orders. Jesse was a really nice guy, quiet and very friendly, he would always do what he could for anyone. My heart goes out to his family and his close friends, I know he will be missed! I just found out about this tonight from my wife and I was shocked, it hit hard, I'm still dumbfounded thinking about it.

I became friends with Jesse in Germany while we both served in the same unit while he was in the Army. He had so many friends. He was blessed with great wit and was always trying to get everyone to laugh. He loved the Broncos and the LA Dodgers.
He always talked about getting out of the Army and moving back to Colorado. I remember going to an opening night showing of Transformers II with about 15 friend, among them were Jesse and my 5 year old son.
Jesse sat next to my son that night and I know that if that same madness would of happened then, he would have protected my boy if I couldn't have.
Jesse was a great Non-Commissioned Officer, Patriot, and friend.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
I would like to send my deepest sympathy and prayers to Jesse's family and loved ones,

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand...
Jesse, may your soul rest easy and may God shed his healing graces upon your family in this time of loss. What happened to you was senseless and horrible. I am glad I had the opportunity to have you as a classmate in highschool, your smile was infectious and will always be remembered.
