Lester (Leck) Norman Shannon, III Lester (Leck) Norman Shannon, III of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2019, at age 71. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth (Betty) Sherrod and Lester (Les) Norman Shannon, II. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Cynthia (Cindy) Smith Shannon, their children Mary Elizabeth (Mimi) Shannon of Birmingham and Lester (Leck) Norman Shannon, IV (Lauren) of Herndon, Virginia, grandchildren Ladd and Lucy, and his brother, Michael Sherrod Shannon of Birmingham. Leck and Cindy lived in Birmingham for over 25 years. He worked for Southern Company Services and later was President of ViaTech, a subsidiary of BE&K. He also started Performance Controls, an engineering business. In 2004, he and Cindy moved to Cape San Blas, FL, where he sold real estate. In2014, he and Cindy moved to Santa Rosa Beach, FL, where he retired. Leck was active in Junior Achievement and liked volunteer work. He loved doing many activities with his family, especially fishing and sailing. He was a wonderful husband and father and will really be missed. His faith was very strong and he tried to instill it in his children. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, Al at 2:00 pm, May 23, 2019, with visitation at 1:00 pm. Contributions in Leck's memory may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd SW, Lilburn, GA 30047 or the Covenant Presbyterian Church Deacon's Fund, 65 Old Montgomery Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35209.
