Marian Woodward Obituary

March 14, 1925 ~ November 4, 2015
Our angel mother, Marian Bagley Woodward, 90, returned peacefully to her Father in Heaven on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 for a joyous reunion with her beloved husband, Doney Leon (Dee/D.L.), her daughter, Marilyn, and parents, Cyrene Neff Bagley and Martha Edna Davidson.
Born, March 14, 1925 in Cottonwood, Utah, she cherished her testimony of the gospel above all else and her life was spent in the service of others. Growing up she spent her summers at the Bagley Ranch in Callao, Utah but returned to Cottonwood for school.
She loved learning and excelled in her schooling. At Granite HS, she competed in debate competitions as far as Denver and was the Art Club President. Pursuing science at USU, she earned top marks. Her favorites were her two years of inorganic and organic chemistry. Her goal was to be a scientist but her mother said, "Marian, if you want to raise a family, it's important for you to be home when the family is home and you should be a teacher." Even changing majors her junior year, she earned her B.S. Degree in just four years, graduating in Educational Home Economics with three minors in English Literature, Art and Science. She continued with post-graduate classes and was a life-long learner. She taught Home Economics in Brigham City and Euphrata, Washington.
She served a proselyting mission in Houston, Texas for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was sealed for eternity in the Logan Temple, August 11, 1950. She was a homemaker, culinary expert, artist, pianist, excellent seamstress, voracious reader of religious and non-fiction books and was totally selfless. Learning orphans were going blind, so she donated over 2,000 crib quilts worldwide which were thoughtfully constructed of various fabrics to come up with strips of wild, colorful patterns to stimulate their vision.
She maintained lifetime friendships and many visitors stayed in her home. Children of all ages loved to be with her because she would run through the ditch water, make slime baked warm cookies, had cinnamon bears and candy corn always in the candy dish. She kept immaculate books for her husband's company, Woodward Construction. She tended lots of grandchildren and never once complained about the extra time and work involved. She traveled to the Holy Land, Egypt, Austria, Australia, Hawaii, and Canada.
Survived by her children, DeAnn Duncan Neal (Kirt), Renee Fasbender (Mark), Stan (Karen), Brent (Jill), Carol Hockin (Grant), Ralph; 21 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dee; daughter, Marilyn; parents, brothers, David and Charles and sister, Catherine.
Thanks to all the medical professionals who attended Mom with loving care, and in her final days, Home Instead and Silverado.
Viewing and Funeral held at Big Cottonwood 14th Ward Chapel; 2080 E 5165 S, SLC. Hello Carol,
I was deeply saddened for you to hear of your mothers death.
Though I knew her only thru brief encounters over the years,
She seemed a person of great intellect, interesting and interested, always with a gracious good nature.
Please accept my condolences.
Sincerely,
J. Rudy Anderson

What a beautiful obituary for an aunt who was amazing in so many ways... She made everybody feel loved. She was a life long learner and always had interesting things to share. Her smile, positivity, can-do attitude and rock solid faith were an inspiration to us all.
