Matthew Samson Obituary

Samson, Matthew "Sammytime"

Matthew "Sammytime" C. Samson, age 29, of Seymour passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 as a result of non-smokers lung cancer. He was born February 5, 1984 son of Richard Samson and Ann Huettl-Samson.

Matt attended Seymour High School where he was involved in many different sports. Matt loved to play baseball and softball. It was through his connections with the many ball teams where he made so many great friends.

Matt worked at Seymour Beverages for several years and enjoyed all of his customers on the route.

Matt loved the Packers, going to the games and watching the fly-overs. He was so proud to be an American. He loved to travel and would take a road trip any chance he got.

Matt enjoyed spending time with Kate and the boys, time at the cottage, and loved his entire family with all of his heart.

On June 29, 2013 he married the love of his life and best friend, Katie Wesse. Matthew was an incredible husband, father, son, brother and friend to many.

He is survived by his wife, Kate; sons: Tanner and Maddox; parents: Ann Huettl-Samson and Richard Samson; brothers and sisters: Richie Samson, Jeremy Samson, Courtney (Perry) Schisel, and Ashley Samson. He is further survived by nieces, Addison and Paige; Godchild Hadley; nephews; Isaac, Cole, Reece, and Katoa. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Matt was preceded in death by grandparents: Ervin and Dorothy Huettl, and Leon and Francis Samson.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 18, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Matt's memory.

To the Annie and the Samson Family... Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Matt a few times, the stories of him showed how amazing a person he was. May he rest in peace! Sending love and prayers.

Ann, Pegge told me of Matt's illness and my heart broke for him and for you. Now it breaks again; he died on our Matt's birthday. I can tell you that it does get easier, but never is life back to "normal." This parenting a child who is no longer part of this earthly life is so damn hard. But I also know from experience that love never dies and I hope that you're already seeing little glimpses of your Matt in his new life.
Hugs from one Matt's mom to another.

You only had to meet Matt for a few short moments to begin to laugh and smile along with him. Then the next time you ran into him, he would greet you as one of his closest friends. I have many fond memories just chatting with Matt when I would run into him, or as I knew him "Sammy Matthews", a continuation of an old joke.

One memory in particular stands out from when we were spending time at my brother Joel's duplex after a night with friends in Seymour, and we were talking about how it's crazy that we were all growing up - but luckily having fun like nothing had ever changed, and loving life despite working hard and starting families. We then agreed on how amazing glass bottled sun drop was.

He was truly a generous, kind, and inspiring person. My heart goes out to all those who love and miss him. I hope people share the endless love and memories that Matt shared with everyone he met. May those memories and precious photos comfort you and help you keep him close.

Thinking of you.

It is hard to find the words to express our sorrow in hearing of Matt's passing. So very many hearts are hurting with the loss of this young man. You only had to spend a short time with him to realize he was an incredibly special person. We pray his family can find some comfort in knowing he left such a positive footprint during his much too short life here on earth. We were blessed with the opportunity to know him and grateful for the laughs and smiles he shared with us.
