Tacoma , Washington - It is with a heavy heart we announce the peaceful passing of Miyoko Kanda 95, on December 17, 2020. Born on January 23, 1925 to Gisuburo and Tazu Abe in Tacoma, Washington. She was interned at Minidoka and Tule Lake during WWII. While at Tule Lake she met her future husband, Kazuo Kanda and married. They returned to Tacoma in 1958, Miyo raised her two children and worked for Boeing until she retired in 1990. She was an active member of the Tacoma Buddhist Temple. Miyo was a generous, loving mother who enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending time with family. She is survived by her 2 children, Gene (Ann) and Cheryl, grandchildren Travis (Lindsey) Endo, Dustin (Emily) Endo and Lauren Kanda, as well as 6 great grandchildren. Miyo was preceded in death by her parents, Gisuburo and Tazu Abe, brother, Kats Abe, as well as her sister and her brother in law, Tomiko and Hagime Nakashima. We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff, caregivers and nurses at the Weatherly Inn for their hard work in providing for our mothers needs during these trying times.
