11/13/1941 - 3/13/2020 Our family grieves for the loss of our patriarch Steven Bauer. Steve left behind a trail of love that will continue to live on in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his father Dean Price Bauer, and his mother Orletha Muntz Bauer. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Karen Strain Bauer; brother Stan Bauer (Cathy); sons Randy, Ron (Adrianne), Rick (Corey), Ross (Rebecca), and daughter Julie Ochoa (Gilbert); grandchildren Brandon (Christy), Paige (Michael), Kyle, Chad, Carly (Jose), Abby, Katie, Lily, Max, and Bode; great grandchildren Caleb & Gavin; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws (including his 103 year old mother-in-law Virginia Strain). Steve was born in San Diego. During his early adult life he resided in Long Beach, an alum of Wilson High School. He met his wife at church. He received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting at Long Beach State. In 1960 he married Karen and moved to Garden Grove. In 1969 the Steven Bauer family moved to Orange. Steve worked for Arthur Anderson, Carr Paper Co., The Lusk Co., and Harlan Glenn & Assoc., and ultimately owned his own tax firm: Bauer Tax & Accounting in Villa Park. Steve cherished his family and raised five children, all earning their college degrees. All five children were graduates of La Veta Elementary, McPherson Jr. High, and El Modena High. Steve's favorite destination was taking his family to the mountains for summer and winter vacations, specifically Mammoth Lakes, CA. Steve was a committed coach at both the South Sunrise Little League (with good friend Bob Wilson), and Orange County Junior All American Football where he touched the lives of many youths in these sports. COACHING WAS HIS PASSION. He earned numerous league championships in both leagues, even earning an Orange County Championship as Head Coach of the Junior Midget Steelers. Steve was involved with El Modena Football serving as Booster Club President. He was proud of all the achievements of his children while at El Mo. Thankfully for Steve this continued through college, and started over again with grandchildren's involvements (yes, he did leave a trail). Steve will be missed, but memories will be cherished. A "Celebration of Life" is being planned August 1, 2020. Friends and family will be notified once confirmed.
