Anthony A. "Pete" Cole, 80, of Fort Valley, VA, passed away peacefully January 25, 2016 at the UVA Medical Center surrounded by his family.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 29 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Church of the Brethren in Woodstock. Reverend George Bowers will officiate.
Burial will be private in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Pete was born March 3, 1935 in Oakton, VA to the late Thomas Cole and Audrey Caton Cole.
Pete was an avid sportsman since childhood and loved to hunt and fish, as well as all types of shooting that involved his hand-loading. He was a life member in the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunt Club.
Pete retired in 1998 after 47 years working in the automotive business of Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. In 1998 he retired from Parson's Chrysler.
During retirement, he enjoyed car racing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Mabel I. Cole; seven children, Terri Brandon (Joe) of Woodstock, Dwayne Cole (Cheryl) of Leonardtown, MD, George Smith of Anacortes, WA, Deborah Bennett of Green Bank, WA, Thomas Smith of Lake Stevens, WA, Lawrence Patrick Smith of Oak Harbor, WA and Anthony Smith of Arlington, WA; grandchildren, Cole Brandon and Marissa Brandon of Woodstock, and Anthony Cole and Michael Cole of Leonardtown, MD; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of WA; brother, Gary Cole of McLean; and sister Marian Morris of Partlow.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin and Leonard Cole.
Pallbearers will be Cole Brandon, Joe Brandon, Dwayne Cole, Larry Barton, Tommy Messer and Mack Gill.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

Pete was my first boss at Winchester Toyota years ago. I always admired him and the way He could handle any situation and stay calm! I always loved him as a person and mentor! I am deeply saddened to hear that he has left this earth. Please accept my Condolences on your loss.
