BENTON -- Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Files passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at her home in Benton after a seven-year battle with ovar-ian cancer.
She was born Aug. 28, 1956, in Carmi to Eddie and Janice (Hart) Files of Enfield, who survive.
Liz worked at Rend Lake Conservancy for 37 years. She loved traveling with her friends, collecting antiques, panda bears and lizards.
She was a member of IBEW Local Union 702, BPOE 1234 and Bocce Club, both in Benton, and Moose Lodge 795 in West Frankfort.
In addition to her parents, survivors include a sister, Nancy Files, brother, David Files, sister in-law, Jill Files, and very special niece, Emma Jane Files, all of Carmi.
She was loved and cherished by a special companion and friend in her life, Mike "Strawberry" Kinkade of Benton. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Connie Hutson of Sesser, Ruth Rankin of Fairfield, Barbara Jo and Steve Stocke and Carmen Hart, all of Enfield, Patti and Bob Loveall of Benton, Sharon Duvall of Hickory, N.C., Frances Davis of Branson, Mo., and Pifer and Vennie Files of Chambersburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Allen and Edith Files; maternal grandparents, Andy and Fayetta Hart; and uncles, Ronnie Files, Mike Hart and Herb Huston.
Services will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 14, in Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Stendeback Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her remembrance at Stendeback Family Funeral Home to Chemo Ducks or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. For more information about Chemo Ducks, visit chemoducks.org. Donations can also be made there.
Stendeback Family Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Sorry for your loss. Liz had a huge personality and an even bigger heart. She fought long and hard but she never gave up!!
