Garland Hope Funkhouser, 90, of Edinburg, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Paulás Lutheran Church at Jerome. Pastor Jeff May will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Funkhouser was born July 18, 1928 in Jerome, son of the late Tobias Aquinter Funkhouser and Martha Coffman Funkhouser.
He was a farmer, did construction work and was a mechanic.
He was a member of St. Paulás Lutheran Church where he served on the church council.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lena Sine Funkhouser.
Hope is survived by four children, Garland Richard Funkhouser of Edinburg, Wayne Douglas Funkhouser and wife Judy of Greensboro, NC, Larry David Funkhouser and wife Karen of Mt. Jackson, and Carol Jean Getz and husband Mark of Edinburg; two sisters, Celia Spiker of Martinsburg, WV, and Mary Moomaw of Maryland; and three grandchildren, Jean Getz, Renee Williams and Eric Hockman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paulás Lutheran Church, 4109 Jerome Road, Edinburg, VA 22824.

Our deepest sympathies, May God bless your family and comfort you and give you strength in your time of sorrow. Garland was a nice man and will be missed by many. He was a friend to everyone or anyone and always willing to help. Heaven has recieved another angel.
