Funeral service for Janis Marie Winchester, 65, of Jones, formally of Altus, were held at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Aug. 10 with the Rev. Tom Fisher, Hess Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was at the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Winchester passed away at her home in Jones on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.
Janis Marie Winchester was born to Cecil Leon and Dorotha (Steen) Lovett in Altus on Jan. 7, 1950. She grew up in Altus where she graduated High School in 1968 serving as the DECCA President her Senior Year. She married Tom Winchester in Vernon, Texas on Dec. 17, 1982 and they made their home in Altus. She started working for Jackson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 16 as a switchboard operator and retired as the Director of Accounting after 39 years. Janis enjoyed working in her yard, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; four children, Jiminy Winchester of Altus, Tannah and husband Bryan Farrington of Jones, Jeremy Winchester and wife Janet of Michigan and Amy and husband Terrance Byers of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren, Jasmyn, Meghan, Kasen, Brandon, Augusta, Ashlyn, Benjamin, Katelynn, Donnie and T.J.; a brother, Ronnie Lovett and wife Ruth of Altus; a nephew, Shannon Lovett and wife Ginger of Elgin; and many other relatives and friends.
