My name is Juliet Fry and I am writing on behalf of my father John Fry. Someone kindly left a message on his phone about Joan.
Dad and my mother, Ruth, had MANY FINE HOLIDAYS with Jim, Margaret and Joan, along with Margie Orr. They went every year to a different holiday house/hut/bach for a week or so and did lots of walking, reading and talking. There is a huge number of photos of this parka-clad gang in places ranging from Norfolk Island to Stewart Island. They were obviously good company for each other as they traipsed, botanised and looked at lots of rural New Zealand.
My husband, John, and I also have fond memories of meetingup with Joan in her Mt Roskill house when my parents were visiting Auckland. Having been in Christchurch for ages now, we have lost touch, but not memories! Dad, also 96, is pleased that I can send this message on his behalf.
With love,
Juliet
