Lillian Hurst Abbott, 88 of Woodville passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Woodville Health & Rehab Center in Woodville, TX. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating will be Dr. Raymond A. Parker. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 10:00am until service time. Lillian was born September 22, 1925 to John & Elizabeth Rowlands Hurst in Stockport, Cheshire England. Her husband Chester Abbott was a military policeman in the U.S. Army. They met in an air raid shelter during one of the scud missile bombings from Germany. They married just before the war was over in 1945. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved to knit, crochet, and read a good novel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Chester Abbott; parents, John & Elizabeth Hurst; four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughters, Margie Sanford & husband Mike of Hemphill, and Sharon Fuller & husband Keith of Woodville; sons, John Abbott & wife, Callie of Woodville, Bill Abbott & wife, Suellen of Hemphill, and Robert Abbott & wife, Gaynell of Woodville; sister, Rene Dean of England; grandchildren, Dennis Edgar, Gina Edgar, Toby Abbott, Wendy Abbott, Carrie Garsee, Jenny Haralson, Heath Fuller, Heather Albert; and great grandchildren, Haley Edgar, Hilary Edgar, Lexie, Kristian & Devin Abbott, Haden Guerra, Sadie & Demi Garsee, and Brock Albert. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Woodville Health & Rehab for their compassionate love, and care for our sweet dear mother. Also Odyssey Hospice of Jasper for providing care, and understanding.
