Marvin Kraft, 91 of Waverly, died on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly.
Marvin was born on Feb. 11, 1926, by Nashua, the son of John and Bertha (Jensen) Kraft. Marvin was united in marriage Donna Steere on June 20, 1948, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Western Douglas, rural Plainfield. While attending St. John's, Marvin served on the church council. Marvin served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He farmed for many years, was an auctioneer and drove school bus.
Marvin loved farming and auctioneering. Most of all, he loved his sons and their many hunting trips. He especially loved his granddaughters and great granddaughter, Eloise.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Kraft, of Waverly; two sons, Larry Kraft and Jeffrey Kraft, both of Waverly; three granddaughters, Brandi Kraft, of Chicago, Brittni (Dan) Lantz, of Cedar Falls, and Brooke Kraft, of Cedar Falls; and a great-granddaughter, Eloise Lantz; two sisters, Helen Knapp, of Charles City, and Beverly Winkie, of Belle Plaine; one brother, Richard (Vera) Kraft, of Clarksville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded death by his parents, two sisters, Eileen Kraft and Shirley Day; two brothers, Merlin Kraft and Kenneth Kraft; and an infant brother, Leroy Kraft.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Waverly with the Rev. Arthur Bergren officiating. Burial will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.
