Singelyn, Mildred Our beloved Mildred Ferguson (Root) Singelyn passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 22, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born on April 15, 1927, in Morinus, Ontario, Canada. She lived a wonderful life… learning to skate by wearing her snow boots inside of her brother's skates and being pushed onto the lake. Dancing to big bands in Bala - her jitterbug and clogging are legendary. Mildred's interests and talents were wide-ranging, and she lived life with love and enthusiasm. She loved a good debate, listening to jazz and swing music, attending hockey games, and saw beauty in the ordinary. Mildred traveled the world, was an accomplished artist, loved to read and learn. Mildred was an active member of service clubs, garden clubs, book clubs, curling clubs, church groups, and volunteered at local art galleries, museums, and art fairs. Most of all, Mildred cherished her family. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Ellen (Gonneau) Ferguson, her brothers Albert and Earl (Kay) Ferguson, son John Root, stepdaughter Mary Zeppelin, niece Mary Ellen Ferguson, grandsons Jack Bernethy and Khalil Williamson, and husbands Jack Root and Robert Singelyn. Mildred is survived by her children and stepchildren: Deborah Jones, Judith Root, Marcia Root (Tim Katz), Robert (Diane) Singelyn, Virginia Singelyn, William Singelyn, Jean (Tony) Williamson and Jamie (Katie) Singelyn.
