Ireland, Robert W. Age 87, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born on January 8, 1926 in Ryley, Alberta, Canada to the late Donald and Hannah Ireland. Robert was married to Benita Ellen Coleman on April 28, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN, and the two were married for 58 years until her passing in 2009. Also in 1950, Robert founded the Ireland Decorating Company, running it until his retirement in 1991. He was a National President of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA); and Trustee for the Painter's Local Union #33 Apprenticeship Board. Past member of many organizations, including the Elks Lodge #296, the Lions Club, the Moose Lodge #300, and the Fairway Estates Condo Association, and a former Masonic Temple member. Robert is survived by his daughter, Robin (Richard) Binkley; his grandchildren, Richard Scott (Danielle) Binkley, Sarah Binkley and Susan Binkley; his great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Isabella Binkley, and Rylee Binkley; sisters-in-law, Doris Ireland and Jessie Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Benita; grandson, Matthew Binkley; his parents; brother, Donald Ireland; sister, Doreen (Howard) Burnstad; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Medlock. Funeral Services for Robert W. Ireland will be Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 19901 Houbolt Rd., Joliet. Friends and Family are invited to gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. As it was Robert's wish, Cremation Rites will be accorded and inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in his name may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice. Memorial Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. My sympathy to his family. I had the pleasure of working with Bob at Caterpillar. He was a great gentleman that was dedicated to his work as a painter.
