Bob was the Husband of Jean Payne-Williams. They shared 20 years of marriage. He was born in Rochester, MN to Lester and Grace (Dormady) Williams. Bob joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and served proudly for 21.5 years, retiring in 1976. After retirement he went to work for the Army Corp of Engineers, retired from there after 20 years. He served in Vietnam, Korea, Spain, Washington State and California. Too many medals and ribbons to list. During the bi-centennial Bob traveled the United States assembling Fighter Jets in malls as a recruitment endeavor.
He was a proud member of the VFW, Cooties, American Legion, and Elks for many years. Serving in numerous positions in the VFW.
Bob is survived by his wife Jean, daughter Melinda (Paul) Wilkes, step-daughter Stacey Payne, grandson Mathew (Michelle) Schlecht, granddaughter Amanda (Ryan) Berg, step-granddaughter Kayla Dell and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chuck and Jim, daughter Robin Lynn Seggar.
His grave side services will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd. Dixon, CA. 95620 on Monday, March 19th, 2018 at 11:30am. A reception following the services will be held at the VFW Post 6158 in Orangevale, CA.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Sutter Care @ Home Hospice at 3001 Lava Ridge Ct. Roseville, CA 95661. This group of humbly kind individuals made sure Bob was comfortable and at peace until the very end. The family would like to thank all of the Hospice staff and the caring staff at Sutter Health Medical Center for their help.
