Rose KNUDSON Obituary

KNUDSON, Rose Marie

On November 2nd, 2017 this world lost a lovely lady and heaven gained another angel. After a courageous battle with cancer Rosie went to be with Jesus. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Born April 28, 1948 in Lake Village, Arkansas to Henry and Flora Marie Cantrell, Rosie was one of six children. Early in her childhood, her family moved to Arizona, then to Hanford, California where she graduated from Hanford High School. During that next year she met a handsome Navy sailor named Gary. They began a courtship that began over a 25 cent cup of coffee (though Rosie didn't drink the stuff!) and ended with a long distance phone call from Japan from Gary to Rosie. Because the call was collect and Rosie paid for it she figured she had better marry Gary to get her money back! During the next 50 years they celebrated many triumphs, met setbacks with resilience and gave all an example of devotion, loyalty and love.
Rosie and Gary have four children: Kevin, Cindy, Ryan and Jeremy. During her time here on Earth she was a friend to all and a help to many. Rosie was mainstay at Junior camps for the Washington District UPCI and was affectionately known as "The snack shack lady." Her service to the ladies ministry was one filled with much devotion and she always gave her all. She was an integral part to church she faithfully attended for over 45 years. No matter where she went, she made friends and touched the lives of others. Aunt Rosie to the expansive clan of the Knudson family, she was also a beloved sister-in-law. Her Texas brownies and Peanut Brittle were favorites at family gatherings and again, she was the one to call on when you needed anything. There is no telling the countless lives she affected and will continue to touch.
Rosie is survived by her husband Gary, son Kevin (Michelle) daughter Cindy (Matt) son Ryan (Nessa) and son Jeremy (Catherine), 12 grandkids, brother David (Juanita), Henry Ray (Donna), sister Barbara (Bill), numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as countless nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Henry, mother Flora Marie, stepfather George, sister Bonnie, brother Marvin and grandson Kyle.
Services will be November 7, 2017 at 2pm with public viewing at 1pm, at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 21326 E. Mission Avenue, Liberty Lake, WA 99019. Special thank you to Danekas Funeral Home of Ritzville, WA for their kind service and help during this time.

October 31, 2020

Rosie and I became friends when we were in high school, our senior year. She came into my life at a time that I truly need a friend, to help me through a difficult time. We had some crazy times back then. Had a lot of fun cruising main street and being silly. I taught Rosie how to drive. Took my car out into the country where on a dirt road by a barbed wire fence she ran the car into the side of the fence. LOL I remember when we met our lifetime friend Jeanne. The three of us have remained friends during this entire time, even though Gary stole her away from us when he stole her heart, but I think she had his first. But time and distance wasn't enough to end our friendship where the love we felt for each other was that of sisters. And I will miss my friend but I know she is now pain-free and is truly in a better place. So while we mourn our loss we know that we will see her again. Farewell my friend

Met Rosie before she met Gary. It was wonderful watching their love develop. They had a love made in heaven. She will be missed; we will all meet again with our Lord & Savior. She was such a Blessed person and I had the privilege of being one of her many friends. This is a picture of our last visit. She was with another great friend, Maggie.

Her sister Barbara is my mother-in-law. I met Aunt Rosie shortly after I met my future in-laws in 1995. Even though she had 4 children of her own with daughter-inlaws already, she treated me like I was her daughter in-law also.
In her kitchen at various family gatherings she was the cook with a grandchild or a grandnephew or a grand niece on her shoulder.
She had so much love to give.
