Ms. Shirley Ann Armstrong affectionately known as “Ms. Toot”passed on Wednesday April 14, 2021. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday April 24th , 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 4025 W. Palmetto Street, Tampa, Florida with Rev. Anthony W. Greene, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida.

Ms. Shirley Ann Armstrong was born in Wadley, GA to the parentage of Roosevelt Armstrong and Elizabeth Armstrong. She was raised in Tampa, Florida. She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of King Senior High School.

Ms. Armstrong was a member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens until her demise. She loved to decorate, listen to Blues music, go shopping with her daughters, watch her favorite Western TV shows and spend time with her family and friends. She loved to give her family and friends nicknames that will carry on from childhood to adulthood. Ms. Armstrong retired from Burdines Department store after 15 years of amazing service. After her retirement, she put all her energy into helping raise her grandchildren, who she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Armstrong; mother, Elizabeth Armstrong, brother, Roosevelt Armstrong, Jr. and her dearest friend, Annie Ruth Smith.

Ms. Armstrong leaves to cherish memories of her with daughters, Angela Armstrong and Ashley Armstrong (Ezekiel) both of Tampa, Florida; grandson, Jordan Armstrong (Tiara) of Clarksville, TN; granddaughter, Jari Armstrong of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Wilbert Armstrong (Bernell) of Tampa, FL; sisters, Cynthia Armstrong, Debbie Armstrong both of Tampa, FL and Ida Byrd (Kevin) Newark, DE; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; goddaughter, Roniesha Hill; god sister, Renita Battle; close and dearest friends, Delores Gaynor, Linda Hodges, Shirley Ann Anderson, Yvonne Burns, Ethel Hayes and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a viewing on Friday April 23, 2021 at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Due to the current CDC restrictions, we are asking that you use the visitation as an opportunity to pay your final respect. For your convenience and safety, we have extended our visitation hours.
