William BOYNTON Obituary

William Leslie Boynton
Died suddenly and peacefully at his home on March 9th this year at the age of 94. Bill was born in Hartlepool (England) and trained in the local docks as a marine mechanic. He joined the Merchant Navy and sailed many seas until 1949 when he served as the mechanical engineer on a ship carrying German postwar refugees seeking new home in Canada. Bill fell in love with one of the passengers, Ruth Anna Haese, and hurried back to Canada to get married. Eventually, they settled in Markham where they built their house. Their deep love for each other lasted 67 years until Bill, involuntarily, left Ruth behind. Bill was a smart, gentle and fun loving man, loved by everybody who knew him. His excellent brain served him well in his job with Pickering Nuclear Station and his phenomenal memory was envied by many of those who knew him. He will be sorely missed by all those who loved him.
