Ed Covey, 79, of Wister passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at his home.
Ed was born May 20, 1938, in Wister to Bill and Inez (Call) Covey. He was an avid horseman and a retired sheet rocker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta; his parents; grandson, Stormy Ryburn; sisters, Flora Nichols, Christene Adams and Ellen Whitmore; brother-in-law, Jerry Nelson; nephews, John Whitmore and Gary Nichols; and niece, Kelly Whitmore.
Ed is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Devin Covey of Howe; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ronnie Covey of Stigler; three grandchildren, McKenna, Brooklyn and Andruw of Howe; brother, Jack and Jane Covey; sister, Eula May Nelson, all of Wister; best friend, Onor Roop and her husband Rick; provider and friend, Joy Edwards; two grandpups, Franky and Lyla; nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, with Kane Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Adams, Johnnie Meeks, C.W. Covey, Craig Kardokus, Leon Midgley and Doug Shipman.
The family will visit with relatives and friends at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
