Julie A. (Shapbell) Christy, 52, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at her home in Gilbertsville, PA. She was the wife of Lewis W. Christy with whom she shared 33 years of marriage. Born in Trenton, NJ on August 8, 1965, Julie was the daughter of the late Jan and Ann (Hurley) Shapbell. Julie felt it was important to share Christ’s love to all while volunteering to help others. She loved spending time at the beach and playing pranks on other people. Most of all, Julie adored spending time with her family and doing her devotions with God. She is survived by two daughters, Allison L. (Christy) Stapleton, wife of Todd, Pottstown, PA and Amanda M. Christy, Gilbertsville, PA; one granddaughter, Lillyan Stapleton; three siblings, John Shapbell (Jen), Michael Shapbell (Kristi Cehula), and Haley Almeida (Jose “Pedro”). She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her grandparents, Thelma and Frank Shapbell. Viewings will take place on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Hope Community Church, 2732 N. Charlotte St., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. A Life Celebration will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464 will be handling the arrangements.
