Dear Bill, Bob, and Sam,

I have such fond memories of your mom, who was so dear a friend to my mother (Marge Malboeuf) and, through her, to me. Of course, I remember you all as little boys when our family visited Pottstown, or when you visited us in Maryland or New York; later, I remember Sam as a young man when my mother and I stopped off in Pottstown on the way home from one of my semesters in college in NYC--I can remember we talked about Monty Python very enthusiastically!

Your parents showed up, out of the blue, at one of the critical moments of my life: my mother had fallen at her home in Maryland and nearly died; she was in the hospital, and all of a sudden, there were M.A. and Bill walking down the hall--so consoling and calming and strengthening for me. Later, after my mother had moved to Ithaca, NY to live near me, and had to face a terminal diagnosis, they undertook the long drive (4 hours plus, it must be) to visit her, and they got to know my kids and husband a little then, too. It meant the world to my mother, to see them again, and go out to a festive restaurant dinner together.

I continued to talk from time to time with your mom, who was kind enough to keep in touch--she, of course, was way better at it than I was--but so I heard something about her beloved grandchildren from her on such occasions.

I am so sorry for your loss, but I hope you are comforted to know that many people, myself included, felt honored to know both of your parents; and to know that the kindness of your mom in particular, to her lifelong friend (from college on), has made a lasting impression on me, her grateful daughter.

With deepest sympathy,
Suzy (Suzanne Nussbaum)
