Charles Stephen Duke
Conyers, Ga formerly of Salt Point, NY - Charles Stephen Duke was born on October 6, 1937 to the late Charles and Willietta Duke of Salt Point, New York. He found Christ at an early age as a member of Central Baptist Church where he was baptized and actively participated in the youth choir. Growing up, Steve was educated in the Dutchess County School District where he graduated from Arlington High School Class of 1956.
After graduation, he worked along with his father in the family sanitation business until he decided to continue his education to study radiology and became a certified radiology technician. He enjoyed his career working as an x-ray technician in the Radiology Department at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie,NY for over 30 years.
In 1967, he married Doris Berry of Queens, New York. To this union in 1969, they were blessed with one daughter, Candice Kenyetta Duke who was the joy of their hearts. Steve was a devoted father who loved the outdoors. He spent many hours exploring the mountains by the way of hiking, biking and swimming. A man of adventure, he had the passion for the art of photography, astrology and racing sports cars. Steve loved to travel abroad to Caribbean countries and always enjoyed jazz concerts.
On the morning of Tuesday, March 19, 2013, God called Charles Stephen Duke from labor to reward. His loving memory will live on in the lives of his beloved daughter, Candice Duke Brown; son-in-law, Erik P. Brown of Conyers, GA; three grandchildren, Drafus D. Brown (Shina) of Columbus, GA, Preston M. Brown currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Chevlee' A. Brown of Conyers, GA; two aunts, Ruth Porter of Poughkeepsie, NY, mary Lou Porter of Pleasant Valley, NY; two special cousins, Bill Duke of Los Angeles, CA, Yvonne Duke Hampton of Poughkeepsie, NY and a host of dear cousins and faithful friends.

'Stevie' will be fondly remembered. His booming laugh and contagious smile will be missed. When he called me'my friend' he meant it and I felt honored. my sympathies to all of his family.
