Elaine Daby
Lady Lake, FL - Elaine Daby, 72, of Lady Lake, FL passed away on 6/26 at home. Born on June 30, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Harlan and Pearl Chapin. Elaine married Robert Sullivan on September 18, 1976. He predeceased her in July 2010. On May 6, 2013 she married Scott Reed Daby. Elaine worked at Wassaic Developmental Center in the Staff Development department as an educator until her retirement. She enjoyed her retirement in Lady Lake and was a great golfer with a club championship and many hole-in-ones to her credit. She was also a life member of the Amenia Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Elaine was very proud of her family. She is survived by her husband Scott Reed Daby, her two daughters Lauren Lyle and husband Bruce of Millerton NY, and Linda Dingee and husband Joseph of Dover Plains NY, and the four grandsons who were the light of her life: Colin Lyle of Burlington VT, Shane Lyle of Millerton, and Christopher and Derek Dingee of Dover Plains. She is also survived by her brother Harlan Chapin and sister-in-law Regina of Lady Lake, niece Kim Jones and family, and her best friend and sister-in-law Linda (Daby) Gray.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be private. A memorial celebration will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Amenia Fire Company, P.O. Box 166 Amenia, NY 12501.
