Rose Marie Sherow
Rose Marie Sherow of St. James, NY died peacefully at home on February 11, 2017 with her family around her. She was born May 3, 1933 to Rose M. (Moore) Jones and Elmer R. Jones in Poughkeepsie NY. On July 18, 1954 she married her husband Leonard M. (Pete) Sherow, Jr. Together they had 3 children - Wayne of Stem, North Carolina, Kevin of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Lisa Watson of Commack, NY.
Rose Marie loved to travel and had traveled across the country visiting 46 states, 12 countries in Europe, the Virgin Islands, and Bermuda. Rose Marie was a varsity cheerleader at Poughkeepsie High school, and a member of Sorority Sisters, and belonged to the IBM Country Club. She was employed by IBM for 6 years, and was a self-employed entrepreneur. She loved bowling, was an avid duplicate bridge player, and was an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She was a longtime resident of Dutchess County, lived in Germany for 16 months, also lived in Florida, and finally settled on Long Island for the past 15 years.
Rose Marie is survived by her husband Pete, of 62 years, her 3 children, her sister Catherine Skrabak, Fort Pierce, FL., 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 nieces. She is predeceased by her parents, her nephew, Brian Fadden, and her granddaughter Hannah Sherow. A memorial was held at St. James Funeral Home on Feb. 15 and a mass was held on Feb. 16 at St. Philip and James Funeral Home, St. James, NY.
