Helen came across the obit today. I have great memories of Bob from the years at FDR. Biggest memory is his rendition of "MY Way", which he sang for the teachers at an annual dinner. by chance I came across my copy of Bob's "Search for Pearls" while packing up some books today. We are very sorry to have missed his memorial.

I was an elementary school student in the 1950s at Ralph Smith school on rte 9g in Hyde Park. Mr Hinz was memorable teacher. He also was a person who went above the call. He took it upon himself to create an audio, visual aids club. He trained the fifth and sixth grade students to aid the teachers in setting up and running movie projectors, record players and tape recorders. These students would deliver and set up the requested equiptment . Run it if necessary. This club functioned like a well oiled machine. Mr Hinz was truly the AVA guy. This was something he did not have to do. He wanted to do this. He typified the absolutely superb education system that America had in those days. Rest in peace Mr Hinz.
