Dana M. Cilley

Dana M. Cilley, 55, of Endwell, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Dana Cilley was born November 15, 1965 in Riverhead, NY, to David and Patricia Cilley; the immediate family's only true New Yorker. After Dana graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1984, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from SUNY Binghamton.

During his high school and college years, Dana worked at Sugarman's in Vestal, NY. After college, he began his 25-year career at Olum's and became one of their top salesmen. His passion for learning the new products and their capabilities as technology continually changed was only outdone by his enthusiasm for taking awesome motorcycle rides, enjoying relaxing days at his in-laws' cottage, and the strong loving relationship with his family and friends.

Dana is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Ling-Cilley, married since October 1988. In addition to his wife, Dana is survived by his beautiful mother, Patricia, his brother David, his sisters Diane and Dawn, his brother/sister-in-law Stan and Karen, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dana was predeceased by his father, David Maurice Cilley, his mother-in-law, Helen Ling, and his father-in-law, Otto Ling.

There will be a Celebration of Dana's Life planned in the spring. To those who wish to donate as an offer of sympathy during this difficult time, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of his late father and father-in-law, or a charity that is personal to you.

Hello Mrs. Cilley,

You may not remember me because I have been gone for a long time.

I only recently learned of Dana's passing and needless to say I am crushed.

A person doesn't know the impact they had on you until you learn that they are no longer here.

Dana was a great person. Growing up, I was a handful and it was hard to make any friends, but Dana was always nice to me, as were you, and your daughters!
I have a ton of great memories that center around Dana. One of the biggies is when he got his brown Schwinn Suburban. He was so proud of it and its Positron II gear system. I can remember him telling me, the sprocket keeps moving even if you aren't pedaling. It was the Cadillac of bicycles and he was so proud of it. I came to reallylike his bike too and started to save allof my paper route money to get one just like him. And when I finally had enough money to get it - like $200.00 at the time, we went together to the Schwinnstore in Endicott and I bought a blue one. And like him, I was very proud of mine too.

Dana took me fishing with him and Lenny. And then there was Kevin O' Connor. We would all hang out and listen to Arrowsmith, Cheap Trick and Van Halen among other groups. Then in our junior or senior year at UE, Dana, Kevin and I made the trek to the Carrier Dome to see the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels tour. A lot of fun times. Dana was always fun and you were so strong with us teenage boys!

If I wasn't so far away, I would visit and give you a big hug and cry some more with you.

May God bless each and every one of the family and friends that loved Dana. The hole that is left when a loved one passes on is at times unbearable, at other times we are merely "numb" and just get through the day. My heart is broken for you Cathy, Mrs. Cilley, David, Diane and Dawn. Please know you are thought of and prayed for daily. May the promise of Jesus that we will one day all be together again for eternity strengthen you in the days ahead.

Thank you to everyone for all the lovely tributes for my precious son. He was such a special person and loved by all. A mother is never supposed to outlive her child. So heartbreaking for me. In the past few years I have lost a beloved husband, a dear family friend, a special sister-in-law, a dear sister and now my son. My heart is breaking once again. I pray my son is at peace with the Dad he loved so much and all the loved ones gone before.

Dana, as you are very aware, was a wonderful, caring person who was always concerned with the feelings of his family and his friends.
I don't remember one single time where he had a bad remark to say about anyone.
I loved Dana and you truly have my sympathies.

I am so very saddened to hear about Dana. My sincerest condolences to Cathy and the Cilley family. My sister Liz and I went to college with Dana and he has been a long time friend. Even though we did don't talk that often, when we did catch up, it was like no time had passed. He was an amazing guy who loved Cathy and his family so much! My heart breaks for us all-he was a bright spot in our lives!

My dear cousin! So many memories from growing up that include you. My heart hurts that we won’t be making more. Until we meet again take care of our families. I’ll miss our talks, no matter how long since the last one. You always said I love you more and I would come back I love you most! Until we say that to each other again. I love you most!

I worked with Dana at Sugermans and Olum's. He loved his job and was always striving to be the best at it. He had the most knowledge of any coworker. In our conversations you knew how much he loved his wife and family. Dana was the one you could call on for help at anytime and he absolutely would without hesitation. A great man gone way to soon. My condolences to all of his friends and family he is missed by us all. God bless you Dana.

Dana was always friendly and wore a big smile. Once he knew you he could make you laugh with his whit & sense of humor.
I had the pleasure of working with Dana at Olum’s for many years. He was always willing to go the extra mile and did his job with care. If you spoke to one of his customers or you were one Of his customers - they just raved about how great Dana was.
Dana you leave a beautiful legacy of a caring compassionate human to be filled on this planet-you’re missed more than you’ll ever know. Can’t wait to meet again at that parking lot pole in the sky after my tent sale is over.

I was lucky enough to have met and worked with Dana at Olums. I’ll be hard-pressed to find a nicer man. He was always there if you needed a helping hand and the first out the door to clean off your car in a snow storm! Thank you Dana...and I’ll miss that smiling face. I hope you’re resting in peace now and God bless you and your family

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dana while I worked @ Olum's, only to find out he lived around the corner from us. He was a great person to know, always liked to make sure to stop and chat with him while we were at the store. He will be greatly missed. RIP in Dana
