Harriett Graham Obituary

Harriett Graham

Binghamton - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Harriett Graham. She died peacefully on March 28, 2018 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh New York. She was born on June 11, 1922 to Irving and Hope Woodford in Binghamton New York.

Harriett married Kenneth Graham on Memorial Day September 30, 1942 in Binghamton New York. Together they proudly raised four children. Harriett worked for many years at Link Aviation later known as Lockheed Martin until her retirement. She filled her retirement years with her passion for crafting, walking, biking and cross country skiing with her many friends. Harriett was a generous neighbor and friend to anyone she met. Her greatest joy however was family gatherings and especially picnics at Chenango Valley State Park. Even with all her activities she rarely missed a sporting event in order to cheer for her children and later her grandchildren which at times may have created great embarrassment due to her vocal enthusiasm. Harriett was a long time member of Ogden Hillcrest Methodist Church where she spent many hours volunteering and attending church events. It was there that she met many of her dear longtime friends. Another joy in Harriett's life was hanging out at Laura's Luncheonette in Hillcrest just down the road from her house. She spent many hours there volunteering, as she called it, and enjoying the company of friends and neighbors. She graced them with her now infamous "Harriettisums" as they were called which are still posted in the diner for all to remember her by. She was particularly proud of the day that, then Senatorial candidate, Hillary Clinton paid the dinner a visit and autographed the baseball cap that Harriett wore everywhere. In later years Harriett moved to Cumberland Head to live with her daughter and son in law. Harriett loved watching the deer, squirrels, rabbits and birds feast in their yard. She even learned to enjoy the antics of the families two Schnauzers.

Harriett is survived by her four children Hope and her husband Robert Coryer, of Cumberland Head, Kenneth Graham Orlando FL, Dale Graham Gonzales TX and Gary and his wife Elizabeth (Libby) of Binghamton New York. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Deborah Cleary (Dan Albert) Cumberland Head, Maureen Marcellus (Bill) Plattsburgh, Robert (Raquel) Tampa FL, David (Elizabeth) Plattsburgh, Michael (Christine) West Wareham MA, Coralie Graham Binghamton NY, Rachel Graham(London McDaniel) Ithaca NY, Jamie Graham (Chas Robison) Columbus OH, and Caitlin Kassner (Kristopher) Austin TX. Surviving Harriett are also 15 great grandchildren, 8 nieces and 5 nephews.

Harriett was predeceased by Her parents Irving and Hope Woodford, her husband Kenneth Graham and siblings Raymond and Corrine Woodford, Richard and Mildred (Millie) Woodford, Elizabeth(Betty) and Vincent Eagan, Irving (Woody) and Betty Woodford one niece Jacklyn Granito, and two nephews Douglas Woodford and Irving (Butch) Woodford.

As per Harriett's request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of her life will take place at the convenience of the family. Donations in Harriett's memory can be made to any charity of choice.

Remembering " Grandma " Graham gives me a happy heart. We sat together through many sporting events cheering on Coralie and her team mates. Her grandchildren gave her such joy and laughter. Breakfast at Laura`s Luncheonette was always a little tastier when Grandma Graham was there. Always with a smile, a story, and a positive outlook. My condolences to her family and especially to Gary, Libby, Coralie, and Rachel. I pray her many memories will give you peace and comfort. An inspiring womon!
