Sally Wheeland

Owego - My beloved sister, Sally Lou, 74, went to her Lord after a long battle with Covid. Sally was born July 11, 1946. She was married January 16, 1964 to Robert Richard Wheeland. The marriage lasted 45 years. Robert died 2009. They had one child, Robbie. He died at age 3. Sally was a very proud nurse of 25 years and she followed a 5 generation tradition. She was a nurse in the Tioga County Health Department. She received commendations from the New York state legislature for her work on protocols for communicable diseases. Sally loved to read, paint, listen to music, go antiquing, and going places to see the sights. Sally had a very strong faith in God and was proud to be a Deacon in her church. For many years Sally was blessed by three special friends, Nancy Ryan, Laura McDermott, and Barb Hodel. Each of these women made Sally's life easier and she was grateful for them. Sally is survived by her sister, Debbie Lyons (Phil), step-siblings, Carolyn Brittenham, James Clair (Joyce), and David Clair (Dorothy), her Aunt Jean Garnett, niece, Annette Reeves (Wayne), and nephew Travis Lyons (Jenn), as well as many great nieces and nephews and cousins.
