Hans Johnson Obituary

Rancho Santa Fe Jay Johnson, as he was known, went to be with our Lord on January 5, 2018. He arrived in heaven wearing his cowboy hat, boots and signature fringed suede jacket. It is certain Jay was greeted by his brother, Hugh Johnson; his wife, Beverly Johnson; and his parents Hans and Carrie Johnson.Jay was a 30-year resident of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, as a developer, broker and realtor. He served in the United States Army, was always active in his church, wrote songs, played the guitar and had a radio program among many other things. In 2010, Jay wrote a song and had it recorded by the Young Americans, titled "US Amen." He was also known for his gentle manner and delicious sense of humor. He loved the Lord and his country. Jay and Beverly had a ranch with Arabian horses, which Jay loved and rode often. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed his Doberman pinschers and Great Danes. He is survived by his sister, Estelle Spottiswoode; sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay will be remembered, loved and missed by all that knew him.A private service will be held.In lieu of flowers, a contribution in memory of J. Hans Johnson may be made to: The Village Church, P.O. To our friend and mentor. Thank you for sharing the joy in your life to fill ours. Thank you for being my first Bible teacher... for the strong foundation in faith that I learned by your words, but more importantly, by your example. We learned the JOY in someone's passing when we celebrated Beverly's going home to the Lord with you. Thank you for being our football viewing buddy. This year's SuperBowl seemed empty with out you. We look forward to seeing you again, welcomed by your warm smile and a gentle song. We love you dear friend... always.

My dearest Uncle Jay: I was so very blessed to have had you as my uncle and godfather. You added joy, laughter, fun, and daring escapades to my early years. At times, you also stood in as protector even when I didn't know I needed protecting, and for that, I am most grateful. Just days before you went home to be with the Lord, you voiced to me your desire to be useful to your Saviour, and I know that you were faithful to the end. I'm so glad that you are now rejoicing with your Lord. You will always be held in my heart and remembered for your loving heart, your infectious laugh and "knowing" chuckle, your deep love for and trust in Jesus, and your willingness to come alongside others on their journeys. Much love always. Kara

May you find comfort and peace as you celebrate the life's moments you shared together. It is reassuring to know our loved one is in God's memory, because those who pass on are precious in his eyes. - Psalms 116:15.
