Kenneth L. Hans, Sr.
Galesburg - Kenneth Leigh Hans, Sr., 59, of Galesburg, IL, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 12:26 p.m.
Kenny was born December 17, 1961 in Galesburg, the son of Clyde Riley and Jeannette Dallas (Fricke) Hans. Kenny married Karen Lynn Weedman on December 16, 1989 in Galesburg. Karen survives as do three sons, Kenneth Riley (Caitlyn) Hans of Galesburg, Kenneth Leigh Hans, Jr. of Galesburg, and Herbert Henry (Amanda Neal) Hans, II of Monmouth, IL; one daughter, Christina (Christopher) Garcia of Galesburg; and seven grandchildren. Kenny is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia Deffebaugh of East Galesburg and Elizabeth (Virgil) Sibley of Galesburg; a ½ sister, Mary Ann Lukens of Indiana. Along with his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Henry Hans; sister Rita Jean Trone, brother-in-law (Charles Trone) of Galesburg, and ½ brother Bruce Hans of Oklahoma.
Kenny enlisted in the US Army on April 26, 1984 and was honorably discharged on February 9, 1987 working as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanic. Kenny enjoyed being a provider and learning from every experience, he worked numerous jobs during his life including a long-haul truck driver. He spent the last seven years working as a mechanic for Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad. He was the "Jack of All Trades", he could fix anything, he loved to fiddle with different projects and enjoyed playing computer games. Kenny was a great guy to have as a friend and it was an honor if you could call him your husband, your dad, a brother, an uncle, or the best grandpa. He loved working and providing for his family. Kenny's smile, his jokes, his encouragement, and love will be missed at family dinners. His love of life, love of family and friendships will live in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
