Dorothy Louise Jones

Dorothy Louise Jones, 88, passed away in her sleep at home after battling a long term illness. Visitation will be 5:00PM - 7:00PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A graveside funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Elmwood Memorial Park ,5750 Hwy 277 South.
Dorothy was born on March 1, 1929 in Laramie, Wyoming to Henry and Dorothy Koch. She was the baby of nine children and was a very outgoing child. Her family were long time business men and developers in Laramie. In December 1952 she married the love of her life, William L. Jones Sr., after meeting him at the airbase in Cheyenne. They were married for 53 years until William passed away in 2005. Dorothy devoted her life to be a military wife and raising her children. William retired from Dyess Air force Base in 1973 making the couple residents of Abilene for over 50 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and frequented Ambler Bingo and VFW Bingo. She also enjoyed playing cards, collecting dolls, porcelain and glass shoes. Above all she loved her family with all her heart and she will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William L. Jones Sr.; parents, Henry and Dorothy M. Koch; her son, Russell Edward Jones; her nine siblings, Margaret D. Macgregor, Conrad J. Koch, Julia E. Knobel, Frederica Sheeley, George W. Koch, Augusta M. DePietro, Karl E. Koch, and John R. Koch.
Dorothy is survived by son, William L. Jones Jr. of Abilene; son, David R. Jones of Temple; Daughter, Linda M. Jones of Abilene; Daughter, Sandra L. Ferris and husband Mark of Abilene; grandchildren, Clifton Jones of Temple, Amanda Burch and husband B.J. of Temple, Mickie Jones of Cleburne, Alisha Soto of Abilene; and great granddaughter, Brenna Mae Jones of Temple; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Hendrick Hospital, Hendrick Hospice and numerous nursing homes for the care and compassion they bestowed to our mother the past year.
