Antoinette Pietropaolo
Reno - "Mrs.Anne" "The Hawk", passed away at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center on the night of January 5th 2021. She was born Sept. 13th 1922 to Domnic and Mary Carbone in Philadelphia, PA.
At the age of 21 she left her home in South Philly on a train to join her husband Thomas at Stead A.F.B. She remained a Renoite for the last 75 years.
She began her varied career path at Dainty Cake Shop. After several years of raising her two daughters, she worked for the St. Thomas Hot Lunch Program before the school closed. She continued working for the Catholic Diocese of Reno until she retired as the Director of Holy Child Day Home. Unable to tolerate retirement, she returned back to work for WCSD Nutritional Services at Reno H.S. Finally, at the age of 92, she reluctantly retired. During her lifetime she was involved at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral and multiple school and community activities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters; Josephine and Carmella and her brother; Domnic. Also, preceding her death her husband of 54 years, Thomas, and her son-in-law Joseph Wainscoat.
She leaves behind daughters; Linda Wainscoat and MaryEllen (Guy) Archer, Grandchildren; Thomas (Donna) Wainscoat, Brianne (Kris) Kelly and Nathaniel Wainscoat, Great Grand-daughters; Aria and Natalia Wainscoat and Great Grandsons; Finn and Cooper Kelly.
A Rosary will be held at Walton's Funeral Home on Wed. Jan. 13th at 7:00pm and a Christian Burial Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral at 1:30pm Jan. 14th. It is recommended that parking for the Cathedral be at the lot across the street.
Please be mindful that both venues will be at reduced capacity due to COVID precautions and also a live-stream on Youtube is planned.
A Celebration of Life will be held post-COVID restriction when we can all gather to raise a toast to her long and glorious life.
