Henry Takashi Akao

AKAO, Henry Takashi, 79, of Reno, NV, was born on November 5, 1936 and passed away March 14, 2016 of Alzheimer's disease. He was the cherished husband of Rita Akao and eldest son of Henry Hiroshi Akao and Ryuko Matsushita Akao and beloved father of James Akao, Mitsuko White, Amy Akao, Gina Decker, and stepfather to David Leonardis. He was the loving grandfather of Davis White and Michael Henri Akao. He grew up on an apricot ranch in Winters, CA, with his siblings, Ruth Nishimura, Nancy Akao, James Isamu Akao, and David Akao. He is pre-deceased by Nancy Akao and James Isamu Akao. Henry graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a B.S. in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Washington and worked as a structural engineer for many years. A special thanks goes to Yeni and everyone at Circle of Life Hospice, Right at Home, and Susie Lewis and Jane, his respite volunteers, who supported Henry in his final days. Family and friends will honor Henry's life by gathering at the Riverview Seventh-day Adventist Church 7125 West 4th Street Reno, NV 89523 on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 5 p.m. An Italian dinner will follow.
