Myrna Loy Dunn
1931-2017
Born in Monrovia California Myrna was the daughter of Parley (Snowball) and Alice Lauder. Our mother lived an extraordinary life that began from the humblest beginnings in the midst of the great depression. Her father worked on large government dam projects as a skilled steam shovel and crane operator. He moved the family from project to project to support his family. Myrna's family lived near and contributed to the construction of the nations largest dams including Grand Coulee Dam, and Hoover Dam. As an only child, Mom always dreamed of a large family and she is survived by her husband (John Dunn) and six children (Deborah Nunez, Patricia Cwiak, Pamela Hay, Tim O'Brien, Dennis O'Brien and Tracy Collins). Myrna had many endeavors and her aptitude for business was only exceeded by her generosity toward all she encountered in need. Many may know our mother as the long-time owner of the Antique Collective on Mill St. She and John (a retired Reno Firefighter), were active in many other pursuits including competitive shooting, hunting and traveling. Many may not know that Myrna was a concert vocalist who performed semi-professionally for most of her life in choirs and as a soloist. But most of all, she raised children for a living. She leaves a large and loving family that boasts 32 grand and great-grandchildren...and counting. She has retired from her responsibilities on this earth; only to be in a better place where she can more effectively watch over us all. She has been a bright, shining and determined presence in all our lives. Surely her lovely, lovely essence lives on in us still and will pass, mother to child, generation by generation to all her descendants.
