Florence Supulski Obituary

Published by Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel on Jan. 8, 2018.

Florence Oksoon Lee Supulski, 90, joined her husband of 68 years, William Thomas Supulski, in heaven on January 7, 2018. Surviving are a daughter Gwendolyn (Les) Turbeville and a son William (Dorothy) Supulski II; four grandchildren- Milisa (Kelly) Batten, Daniel (Mary) Turbeville, Wesley (Paige) Turbeville, and Leah Supulski, and seven great-grandchildren- Caroline, Alexander, Grant and Ellis Batten, Charlie Turbeville, and Anna and Evelyn Turbeville.

Florence was born in Wahiawa, Hawaii and in her youth, she was witness to the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. In Hawaii, she met and married her husband William and was an Army wife for 30 years. After retirement, Bill and Florence did volunteer work helping hospitalized soldiers and their families at Fort Bragg, NC. They received the Three Chaplains Award and a Commander's Award for Public Service in recognition of their work. They moved to Midlothian in 2006. Florence was known for her strong faith and friendliness. She always had a kind or encouraging word for everyone she met. Burial in Arlington Cemetery is planned.

The family thanks Brookdale Midlothian for their care of Florence. Some special caregivers are Ertha, Jennifer, Luna, NeNe, Janet, Rosa, Jean, Andrea, Carolyn, plus many others. Many thanks to Kindred Hospice for their great help and support these last months.

Barbara Baroody

She was a wonderful neighbor (1963-1965) and her daughter, Gwen, baby sat for me when I was in South Pacific at Fort Bragg. I wish so much that I had known she lived so near me in recent years.

Bill and Florence were my neighbors for eleven years. We loved them dearly! They both were kind and helpful. Florence was the sweetest lady I think I had ever met. They were always in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Mrs Supulski many many years ago (1963-65)vat Fort Bragg and Gwen baby sat for my children. When we moved, she gave me a beautiful piece of coral from Hawaii and some sort of branch which I still have on display in my home. She did her best to teach me the hula with quarters on my hands! I wish I had known she loved so near to me in recent years.
