Ronald Jeffrey Obituary

The Reverend Ronald Everett Jeffrey, past Minister of Ralph Connor Memorial United Church, Canmore, passed away gently April 7, 2015 at the Canmore General Hospital.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Silke (Neumann) Jeffrey, his two daughters Rachel Jeffrey (Jacob Baumgartner) and Anne Jeffrey of Victoria, and grandson Levi Baumgartner.

Ron was born and raised in Montreal and attended McGill University. In addition to McGill, Ron studied at Lancaster University, and took part in two language exchange programs in Germany, beginning his lifelong interest in travel.

As a young man, Ron became interested in religious studies, and was ordained through the United Church of Canada in 1980. Ron's passion for integrating biblical lessons with current events, humour, and relatable life experiences allowed his parishioners to gain a deeper understanding of the points he wished to get across.

Throughout his 35-year career, Ron entertained, counselled, and taught in the Gaspé in Quebec, Calgary, Vancouver, Penticton, Oliver, and Revelstoke before coming to Canmore, Alberta in 2006. Ron was a life-long learner, a natural teacher, a mentor, and a philosopher.

As an extrovert, he took every opportunity to engage in meaningful and funny conversations with so many, which not only fed his social nature, but led to many adventures while on the road. His passion for Yoga inspired many trips to ashrams around the world, including a memorable trip to India.

When illness struck, there was no stopping Ron. He continued travelling and he and Silke lived life to the fullest every day and all around the world. The family wishes to thank Dr.G.Duggleby for his excellent support, patience, and expertise as well as the personnel and the nurses at the emergency and home care department at the Canmore Hospital.

Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife and daughters as a warm, charismatic, ever-searching, fun-loving, and spirited husband and father. There was never a dull moment!

A funeral service was held at Ralph Connor Memorial United Church on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Friends wishing to remember Ron may make a donation in his memory, to the Ralph Connor United Church Memorial Fund, 617 - 8 Street, Canmore T1W 2B1.

Condolences may be sent directly to the Jeffrey Family, P.O. Box 8248, Station Main, Canmore, AB T1W 2T9.
