Leichner, Mr. Victor Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father and grandfather passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020. Age 94 years. The son of the late Alexander and Amelia (Schempf) Leichner, Victor was born April 14, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #439. Victor married Grace Wachowiak on February 12, 1949. She predeceased him May 19, 1975. Victor was employed at Helfrecht Machine Company for over 30 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked at Shear Tool for several years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, (Second & Federal Sts.), and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Victor enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to the casino. Surviving are two children, Carol Leichner Wainwright, Saginaw; Victor and Kirsten Leichner, Saginaw; one sister, Alvina Sedwick; longtime companion, Betty Hardy; four grandchildren, Jennifer (James) O'Deay, Victor A. (Heather) Leichner, Charles Hill, Grace (Thomas) Macintyre; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Victor was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jo Hill, and by siblings, Lydia Sagady, Dave, Alex and Robert Leichner. Honoring Mr. Leichner's wishes, cremation has taken place. A committal service will take place 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at St. Andrew Cemetery. Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate with military honors rendered by the American Legion Post #439 and the U.S. Navy.
