Karen Elizabeth Bishop, age 79, of Garden Ridge, passed peacefully on December 2, 2017.
She was born in Brownwood, Texas on December 17, 1937. Her parents were Jack Rutland and Gladys Brister Rutland.
She married Jack Brown Bishop of Brownwood Texas on July 7, 1956.
She was a member of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ where she served in the Library. Karen was a librarian for Northeast ISD for 30 years. After retiring she volunteered for Christian Assistance Ministry for 20 years serving on their board of directors and helped establish the Garden Ridge Public Library.
Karen is predeceased by her husband and her parents. She is survived by daughter Janet Fritsch and husband Hilton of Denton, daughter Linda Pedde and husband Ronald of Universal City, grandson Jared Fritsch of Dallas, granddaughter Laura Fritsch of Pflugerville, brother Jack M. Rutland and wife Charlotte of Denton, and sister-in-law Nancy King and husband Bill of Brownwood.
Memorial service will be held at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Sunset Ridge Church of Christ or Christian Assistance Ministry. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneral

I am so sorry about Karen. She was someone we all looked up to as an example of a lady and a librarian. She was exemplary.

The Roosevelt "TR Brunch Bunch" retired teachers would like to express our condolences for Karen's passing. She was the best librarian we ever had and she was really missed. We know she is dancing with the Lord!
