Carl Robert Bob' Christian February 23, 1945 - September 7, 2018 La Mesa Carl Robert "Bob" Christian, 73 years of age, passed on September 7, 2018 in San Diego, California. Born February 23, 1945 in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Thelma Maureen McNeill and Carl August (Johnson) Mossberg (adopted). When Bob was 4 years old, he was adopted by Earnest Ford Christian. Husband and beloved friend of Nina Louise for 54 years. Devoted father of Deanna Louise Lane, Eric Wade, Aaron Wayne, and Elena Maureen Smith. Loving father-in-law to Bob Lane, Thea Christian, Tiffany Christian and Cletus Smith. Proud grandfather of Fletcher, Madison, Nicholas, Alexander, Callie, Wyatt and Ella. Cherished brother of Barbara and Nancy. Bob graduated from Helix High School in 1963 and attended University of California, Berkeley on a football scholarship. Bob worked in construction, building throughout San Diego County his whole life. His love of sports only grew in watching his own children play. He was an avid baseball coach and volunteered his time on many fields in the La Mesa area. He may still hold the record for being ejected from the field for his "passionate" defense of his players. Bob's love of family and friends were his hobby and greatest joy. He loved his time with his children, his extended family and all the friends of the family. Bob was a straight shooter whose support was unyielding becoming a surrogate father to many. His humor was refreshing and the stories of his antics we will always hold dear in our hearts. We shall always toast him with a cold beer and a great Mexican dinner, he will be missed more than he ever thought. Memorial services to be held 5pm, Saturday, September 15, 2018 with family and friends at his home. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Helix High School Athletics.
