Gerald Amuel Jerry' Rister October 22, 1935 - April 6, 2018 Pacific Beach Gerald "Jerry" Rister earned his angel's wings on Friday, April 6, 2018. To his family and friends he was already an angel here on earth however, a special set was given to him to go home. Jerry was well known in Pacific Beach where he continued to reside in his mom and dad's home after dedicating his life to caring for them until their passing. He was owner and operator of Jerry's Barber Shop on Garnett Ave. for many years working beside his longtime friend Marshall, following in his dad's footsteps as a barber. He was an excellent roller skater, for many years skating with the San Diego Roller Hockey Club known then also as "Rocky." A talented artist as well, Jerry once interviewed with Walt Disney to draw for the Disney Company. He also was employed by Boeing for many years drawing and drafting airplane parts for their catalogues. A little known fact is that he drew the logo that is now used for the Peterbilt Company of the woman sitting with her hair flowing back. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Nora and Russell Green, and Rusty Rister; and son James "Tiger" Colbert. Surviving are his children who he dedicated his life to daughters Lura Robinson and husband Gregory of Maine, Cheryl Rister of San Diego, and Jennifer Delao of Oregon; sons Joseph Rister of San Diego and Jon Colbert of Oregon; daughter-in-law Marietta Colbert of Nebraska. He also leaves his legacy to his 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many cousins and friends. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at Greenwood Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA 92113, on Sunday, April 15 at 10:00 AM with burial directly after.

Roomed with Jerry for many months in Hawthorn while doing drawing and drafting Boeing manuals. Have several drawing/illustrations he created for me. Also met James several times.
