Dorothy J. Dottie' Gore October 29, 1924 - November 13, 2018 San Diego Dorothy "Dottie" J. Gore was born November 29, 1924, in Hollywood, California, and moved to San Diego during World War II, where she worked as a riveter at Convair until 1959.Shortly after the war, she met a young San Diego Police Officer named William "Bill" Gore and they were married in 1946. Bill Gore rose through the ranks of San Diego Police Department retiring in 1973 as Deputy Chief of Police.After leaving Convair, Dottie became an avid golfer, playing in a ladies group every Tuesday for over 40 years.When Bill, her beloved husband of 46 years died in 1993, the San Diego Elks Lodge 168 became her second family. She valued the many friendships she developed at the lodge and was an active participant in most of the social activities. Dottie's three sons would follow in their father's footsteps. Her oldest son, Larry, after retiring from the San Diego Police Department went on to serve for six years as Chief of Police of West Sacramento. Her middle son, Michael served with distinction for 15 years as a San Diego County Deputy Sheriff. Her youngest son, Bill, retired from the FBI after 32 years and has served as the Sheriff of San Diego County since 2009.Dottie was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who will be missed by everyone. She lived life to the fullest and on her own terms.

Dear Bill Gore and family, we are so sorry for the loss of your mother, Dorothy. We offer our sincerest condolences. Having lost our mothers in recent years, we know the pain but still harbor the many wonderful memories of their lives and loving interaction with us for the years we had with them. I am sure you will have similar great memories of your dear mother.
