My Aunt Ruby Damron-Coleman, who lives in Pikeville, KY, sent me the obituary about your father this past month. I did not know him, but my father, Keen Childress, Jr. was also born in 1919, and lived in Pikeville until entering the USMC before WWII was declared. I moved my father to Poway, CA in 2005. He was a 30 year veteran of the LAPD. I wonder if the two of them ever met in school, but it certainly would have been wonderful if they could have talked while my they lived in Poway. My dad passed away at almost 98 in 2016. I am so sorry for your loss. I know if is difficult to lose such an amazing father. He will certainly live in your memories forever.

Truly a life well-lived, with an abundance of love, family, faith, and service. I join with countless others who are grateful for his work, and have benefitted from his commitment to our nation, in war and peacetime.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Bill. Both I and my brother Dick worked for him, my brother in Detroit and I in Philadelphia. Both of us felt he was an exceptional man, of great courage, intellect, and dedication to this country. Forever in our prayers.
