Today marks five years without a day
wherein I haven't recalled the love and
happiness we enjoyed. Jim

Jane was my stepmother and I can truly say she will be missed by many.

The love she shared with my father is sadly something very few people ever experience in this life. Her love of gourmet cooking, history, antiques & traveling were secondary to her kindness, generosity, hospitality & love for my father.

The courage she displayed during her final months is something we could all learn from. I feel blessed to have known her and the love shared between her & my father.

May God Bless her, my Dad, her family & all of us who knew & now miss her.

Love, Susan

Jane was a lovely woman, stepmom, and always a lady. She was a great hostess and so generous to open her closet to me when I visited she and Dad one February in Heidelberg. I always appreciated her terrific cooking and of course her knowledge of Europe. She was a wonderful wife who made my Dad so happy, and for that I am very grateful. Love, JoAnn

For Jim,

Jane was your love and our joy. She brought sunshine to a cloudy day and we will all miss her forever.

The love you two shared is an example for the rest of us, and I'm sure you will agree that it takes the love of a great woman to truly bring out the best in a man.

Love, Carol

I knew Jane as my neighbor in Monteviale, Italy. She and Jim were so much fun. My parents and I truly enjoyed their company. Pam and I were fast friends and my Mother and Sister were at her wedding to Tom. There are so many memories with Jane enamoring us all with her good humor and charm. I will miss her.

I first met Jane when I went to visit my father's dear friends, the Thomas' in Germany in 1978. I was all of 20 and had been studying at the University fo Edinburgh. Jim had visited with my family several times, but I hadn't had the pleasure of meeting Jane. What a joy it was. So lively, fun, and wonderfully intelligent. She was my tour guide in visiting Heidelburg and it was an absolute delight. I also had several days of Jane's fabulous cooking. My gosh, even a snack was a gourmet treat. I also shared, with Jane and Jim, a passion for politics. Democratic politics that is. I do so wish she could have seen how well we did in 2008. I know she would have been pleased. As I told Jim, when I was headed out one morning to do my bit to try and turn my red community blue, "...perhaps we should win this one for Jane." And Gosh, I guess we did.

To borrow a phrase, one that I offered at my father's funeral some 23 years ago, and it is paraphrased from Mark Twain, "Jane was a good friend of mine and she will be missed." Mark Twain always seemed to understand that brevitiy and simplicity were sometimes the best way to express a heartfelt emotion.

Carrie;
Thank you for your comments. They confirm just what I'd hoped to describe - a real
pistol, who I so dearly loved and
now miss. She would have loved
knowing you too, I'm sure.

Jim:
Although I did not know Jane, I'm sure she was an absolutely lovely lady. I can't imagine you with anyone less!!!

Take good care of yourself - you are a very dear man....

I didn't know Jane but she sounds like she lived life and enriched those around her. I'll bet she was a pistol.
